If I had to boil our planetary condition to two enabling transformations, they would be: compute and energy, or what I call bits and volts. Both the US and China have a take on both. We have seen in other Daily Planets that China is doubling down on renewable energy abundance.

Today's Daily Planet is about their take on AI.

China's "AI Plus" policy, released by the State Council, aims to deeply integrate artificial intelligence across all sectors of the economy and society, marking a strategic shift from the earlier "Internet Plus" approach. The policy sets a clear three-step roadmap: by 2027, AI adoption in six key fields should exceed 70%; by 2030, intelligent terminals and AI agents will surpass 90% penetration, making AI a core driver of economic growth; and by 2035, China will enter a fully intelligent economy and society stage, transforming work, education, governance, and daily life.

Tomorrow's Daily Planet will be a much longer piece on energy which will also some things to say on China.
